While these two live in Abbotsford, they met me for a Granville Island & Kits Beach Engagement Session.
It was early November but FREEZING cold. I suspect it’s the reason we had Granville Island all to ourselves – a nice change. Wandering the island to find fun and interesting backdrops is one of my favourite things to do. Emily & Ryan were troopers and withstood the adventure and cold at lease for a little while.
After climbing a few stairs and cruising the shops, we jumped in the car to warm up and then zipped off to Kits Beach. Surprisingly, the beach was even colder as a result of the wind. But I’ve done this before, so I packed a few cozy blankets and had these two get cuddly.

I’m grateful these two booked me. They are getting married on a Christmas tree farm. I’m sure I squealed with excitement when they told me!
We had an amazing day together in preparation for the big one. And they even helped me out of a hole.
Yes, a literal hole. I was so engaged with photographing them on the log that I stepped backwards straight into a doggie-dug hole on the beach. I fell hard. They came rushing over with worry. I was in hysterics – embarrassed of course and worried for my cameras. But it all worked out they were so kind.
Emily found me through Google, and our first phone call was long. We had noticed just how much we have in common – and couldn’t stop chatting.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a couple book me through a phone call, and they did without hesitation. I felt flattered that they knew I was the one {blush} through such a simple call. Strange enough it happened again, and two more couples followed suit.
