Rita & Amir’s Epic Vancouver Wedding
I’ve been dying to share these stunning photos from Rita & Amir’s epic Vancouver Wedding. Their day was a love-filled, modern Persian celebration, complete with a crazy fun dance party that kept us all out way past bedtime. Enjoy this special look into their beautiful UBC Rose Garden ceremony and Sage Bistro reception, and feel free to Pin your favourites for later!
Oh, and don’t forget to check out my #1 takeaway from Rita & Amir’s epic celebration!
The Perfect (and most adorable) Clients
Rita & Amir embody the type of people I LOVE working with! Fun-loving and classy with an eye for all things beautiful, they were ready to party in style.
Rita has a warm smile and a big, infectious laugh that just sweeps you up. Amir is cool, collected, and completely in love with his new wife. Plus, they’re dog people! They even brought their fur baby, Benji, to their engagement shoot, which was one for the books! Check out my favourite shots from their engagement session here.
A Modern & Fun Persian Wedding
The vision: a fun, elegant and modern Persian wedding (which came together without a hitch!). To make it happen, they put their own spin on some of the more traditional wedding elements: Rita wore Keds sneakers instead of fancy stilettos, and the Sofreh was sophisticated and contemporary (learn more about traditional Persian weddings and the Sofreh Aghd here).
Candid Shots + An Epic Dance Party = Super Fun Photos!
“We’re not really into the “posey” kind of photos.”
I hear this a lot, and to be honest, I love it. Posed photos definitely have their place in a wedding, and we did end up snapping a few fun, romantic ones before the party started. But, true to form, Rita & Amir were quick to get back to partying it up with their loved ones afterwards.
For the record, it’s not hard to see why! This was an epic dance party (one of the best I have experienced at a wedding!). The dance floor was full all night, and we went past curfew, staying an extra 90 minutes to take in all the sweaty, dance party glory! The epic party and relaxed photography style made for super endearing wedding reception photos that I can’t get enough of.
How to Plan an Epic Wedding
Planning a wedding can be so stressful! I’ve planned my own and been to enough others to know that for a fact. What I admire most about Rita & Amir’s wedding is how they never lost touch with what was most important to them: celebrating with their loved ones from around the world, and making sure the love was felt by all.
They were intentional about creating the dance party of their dreams, and it was truly a highlight of the night! There was so much fun and laughter at this wedding that I’m sure my face was cracking from smiling and laughing along with them all.
Preserving the Memories
A few weeks after their big day, Rita & Amir popped over to my house for coffee and the big photo reveal (this is one of my very favourite parts of my job!). I helped them choose their favourites, and they decided on a custom, Italian-made memory album to preserve their wedding photos for generations. Nothing means more to me than leaving my couples with high quality digital images and keepsakes they can hold and treasure.
Thank you so much Rita & Amir for having me, I loved every minute of your day.
My #1 Tip and Takeaway from Rita & Amir’s Day:
Be ok with putting your own spin on traditions, and rocking your wedding as you want it to be.
The Dream List of Vendors
Rita & Amir’s wedding planner, along with her team and the other vendors, did a fantastic job! In fact, this wedding introduced me to some of the vendors who have since added me to their preferred vendor list, as we all enjoyed working on this wedding together so much. There’s nothing I like more than giving out vendor love, so here goes:
