A. I’m usually the one behind the camera (and by camera I mean iPhone…) and even then I’m hardly ever in the photo myself! My little boys are growing so quickly, and change so much from year to year. I want to make sure I freeze these moments in time, because our family is changing so much and I don’t want to miss capturing it.
Q. What made you choose me as your photographer?
A. I checked out a number of different local photographers and settled on you for a few reasons. First of all, when I saw your portfolio I really enjoyed the way you captured families in a really natural way. Second, you were so kind and personable in our interaction when I emailed you seeking quotes. I knew we would be a good fit!
Q. What do you like about my lifestyle approach to family photo sessions?
A. I really love how you capture the candid, real life moments of our family’s life. (Enter photo of children running in opposite directions…) I would much rather this than us posing for a “portrait.” Your photos make us smile, laugh, and shake our heads. They really bring our family to life, and I’m truly able to see my little ones’ personalities shine through your images.
Q. How old are the boys at the time of the shoot?
A. 3.5 years and 1.5 years old.
Q. What do you and Michael look forward to most when waiting for your photos to arrive in your in box?
A. Family photo shoots with young children are crazy (at least they are with our boys!). In the moment, at times it feels chaotic and crazy and ridiculous. But when we get our photos back, somehow you are able to capture these beautiful moments amongst the crazy. Or maybe it’s the crazy moments that are beautiful. It’s hard to tell. But somehow you do it.
Q. What was your favourite part/photo about/from this session?
A. In terms of printing photos, I love the one of our boys hugging on the bench, and the one of us all on the beach (even though only me and Michael are looking at the camera, ha!) And while frustrating at the time, my favorite parts were when the kids were running around like crazy tiny humans, and when Ben ran into the water at the end of the session. These are the moments that I will remember fondly as they get older, and I’m so glad that you choose to capture these moments (and include them in our package!) during our session!
Q. Tell me why you feel it’s important to print your pictures (bonus points that you do this!)
A. I remember our house being full of family photos when I was growing up. I recently created a family photo collage wall in our home, and you can see my boys grow from babies, to toddlers, to now one as a preschooler. It’s like a happy little timeline of your family’s life, right there on the walls of your home.
