Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest is a spectacular winter engagement session location, especially when it snows. And especially during a snowball fight!
That’s right. A snowball fight.
Kristin and Matt grew up in BC, but made a recent move to Alberta when Matt was transferred upon finishing his RCMP training. Kristin found space for many children in her life, as an elementary school teacher.
Kristin found me on Instagram. And, we were an Insta-team in planning her, and Matt’s, idea of the perfect shoot. Skype worked its magic, while Kristin was in Alberta and I was in Coquitlam. We looked forward to meeting at a park near their childhood homes, in Surrey.
Christmas holidays had arrived, and they travelled to meet me (and family, of course) in BC. It was a stunning setting with snow on the ground and a slightly overcast sky with bright sun poking through – which makes for great light with beautiful contrasts.
We started with the usual shots. And then I asked them if they’d be up for a snowball fight. Not with me, of course. For one, I’m a crap thrower. For two, CAMERAS! And three, a winter engagement session is always about the lovers.
I admire these two. They are kind, easy-going and funny. Alberta is lucky to have them. I am lucky to have captured their love.
Enjoy this session. And stay tuned for images of Kristin and Matt’s wedding day. It was stunning and simply warmed my heart.
