I am excited to introduce you to Megan this blog post. She found me on Instagram which is pretty cool, as she saw some of the work I did for Michelle Hodgson of Blossom and Vine Floral Company. Always great to have someone see your work and think they want to hire you.
Megan’s biggest passion is her two businesses that are both marketed under her brand called In A Sequoia (another reason I loved Megan as Sequoia was on our list of names if we had a girl!)
The day came of our shoot and it was a rainy West Coast day. I sent Megan an email to see if she wanted to cancel but the rain did not stop this girl. In fact her response was along the lines of: let’s do this in the rain, I think it fits my brand! We met at the River Market located in the New Westminster Quay. The location was my suggestion as it is a fun spot with nature and urban elements, both of which Megan wanted to fit into her shoot. Megan showed up for the shoot looking amazing and had fresh flowers she picked up from the Royal City Farmers Market to use for the shoot, which I thought was adorable.
The rain started to really hammer down but that didn’t stop us! I brought a beautiful bread bag to cover my camera with (classy I know!) Due to the weather not many people were out and about which is not usual of that area. It allowed us a lot of space to play and have fun with the shoot. My favourite location was the lighthouse playground that is usually full of children, but on this night was there all by itself waiting for us.
Megan embraced the rain and had fun during the shoot, and I said to her at one point that it was so great we made the shoot happen after all, as we never spend such fun time in the rain, often running indoors for cover. I feel that this entire shoot could be used as a metaphor to describe Megan. Someone that is not afraid to take risks, happy to face challenges and always up for a good laugh!
Megan thank you so much for choosing me as your photographer! I think you are great and I look forward to our product shoot together and more fun photoshoots in the future! Oh and that smile of yours, it’s one that will light up any rainy day! xo
