On July 8th I had the honour to photograph Chris & Suzana’s wedding at Stanley Park in Vancouver. These lovely folks found me through a referral from my friend Lindsay (thanks Lindsay!) as she knows Suzana’s son Michael. I am always so grateful for referrals and I find it gives me an instant connection to people as that six degrees of separation really does start you off with some trust and some like things to connect on.
Both Suzana and Chris have children and they were all a bit part of their special day, with Michael walking his mom down the aisle and Chris’ daughter Bethany as the ‘best man’ and Chris’ there two daughters as bridesmaids. Suzana also had her sister and brother in law come for her wedding with their cute little boy who is named Romeo, which suited him to a tea, such a little charmer, and a dear friend of hers as her maid of honour.
To start our time off together I met the ladies at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver‘s West End for the tail end of them getting ready, where I noticed the girls had painted the bottom of their shoes with Disney themes! They were very well done and super cute! We did a quick first look at the hotel then headed down by the marina to capture a few shots with a view of the harbour, boats and city scape, then off to the Rose Garden in Stanley Park for their portraits before the wedding.
The ceremony took place at Ferguson Point at Stanley park, kicking off with Suzana arriving in their friends vintage rolls royce and led by a bag piper, how classy is that! This small and intimate Vancouver wedding was such a show stopper, with passer-by’s stopping to take pictures and a group of tourists deciding to be wedding crashers coming right into their space to photograph the couple (ok that was weird, but we had a good laugh about it after, I am sure you can spot them in the picture I added in this post).
Their reception was across the road at the Tea House, and was I ever excited to photograph in and around this place, it’s so beautiful not to mention the food was to die for! The Disney them carried on inside the reception with the tables having fun names related to classic Disney movies, my favourite being Neverland.
Chris & Suzana I want to thank you again for having me capture this special day for you all, and Michael for picking me out of the sea of photographers for your mom! It was a delight to work with you all. Wishing you the best of health & happiness. xo
